Another milestone for Tyger! He had his first taste of bone today.
Initially, I introduced wings to him for a would-be first bone-in meal, but in retrospect that was a bit ambitious. The bone to meat ratio was a bit overwhelming for him, and while eventually he…
Ah, that is interesting! When I switched my dogs over, it was generally suggested that bone was introduced way before organs, usually pretty early on to help keep stools firm through the transition; I guess I was sort of thinking along the same vein for switching cats? I believe when I switched my then-kitten back in december, I introduced him to bone before organs too.
I think one or two of the articles concerning transitioning cats I read talked about bones before organs but were kind of vague in instructing which to feed first. I guess I mostly did it that way because that’s how I switched the dogs, in retrospect.
When I get my organs, they usually come to me frozen and I usually try to portion them out before they thaw because it’s definitely less slimy/icky that way, but I didn’t know that meat that’s been frozen and defrosted was easier to cut up, that’s interesting
Did yours take well to bone in the end, though? So far all he’s had by way of bone is chicken ribs, so he’s still a work in progress. My younger cat handles it like a champ, but he switched as a kitten so is a bit of a diferent story.
